Welcome to Booklator. Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and related services ("Service"). By using Booklator, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Booklator requires access to your device's camera to function. The camera is used strictly for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to scan physical books and translate text in real-time. We do not secretly record, save, or upload your photos to our servers. Image frames are processed locally or sent securely to our OCR providers solely for text extraction and are immediately discarded after processing.
To provide AI-powered context, translations, and explanations, the text you highlight or scan is securely transmitted to our AI processing partners (e.g., Google/OpenAI). We only transmit the specific text necessary to fulfill your translation request.
Your saved vocabulary, custom books, and learning progress are stored locally on your device. If you opt into cloud backup features (if available), this data is securely synced to your account to allow access across devices.
We do not sell your personal data. We may share necessary anonymized text snippets with trusted third-party service providers solely to perform AI operations (such as generating translations or contextual explanations). These third parties are bound by strict data processing agreements and are not permitted to use your data for advertising or model training purposes without anonymization.
We value your trust in providing us your information, thus we strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. We encrypt data in transit using HTTPS/TLS. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
If you have any questions or suggestions about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us at support@booklator.com.
